Crackup Comedy Competitions On The Edge!

A couple from Greely, Beacon Hill-Cyrville, and Kanata South walk into a bar and GET BLOWN AWAY BY COMEDY! Join us for our second annual Alterna Savings Crackup Suburban Comedy Competitions where we’ll be taking it to the edge on the edge of Ottawa.

On Tuesdays, beginning November 8th -  22nd, local comedians take the stage and compete for a $500 cash prize and an appearance at the Alterna Savings Crackup comedy festival's finale - Comedy Night in Canada at TD Place. The winner, decided by a panel of local celebrity judges, will have the career changing opportunity to perform in front of an audience of 3,000 alongside Canadian comedy stars Jonny Harris, Debra Digiovanni, Mark Forward, Sharron Matthews, Derek Seguin, and Jeremy Hotz.

In cooperation with the City Councillor’s, George Darouze (Greely), and Crackup honorary co-chairs Tim Tierney (Beacon Hill-Cyrville) and Allan Hubley (Kanata), these events will highlight hilarious local talent while improving the visibility of the Crackup comedy festival, which aims to crack open doors to mental health services in Ottawa.

Alterna Savings Crackup comedy festival director, John Helmkay says, “The Suburban Comedy Competitions are about engaging local comedic talent and making the festival more accessible to people. We are pleased to be working the area City Councillors and in partnership with Yuk Yuks Ottawa and Absolute Comedy to make this happen.”

The suburban comedy competitions represent the second of three competitions leading to the festival finale. The first competition took place in the summer with the “Prove You’re a Comic” series held at Yuk Yuks (Ottawa) and Absolute Comedy. Each venue crowned a winner, Greg Schroder (Yuk Yuks) and Aba Atlas (Absolute Comedy). These two comedic champs will battle the suburban event winners in Crackup’s February Comedy Competition Finals.

Tickets to the Alterna Savings Crackup Suburban Comedy Competitions are $10.00.
