Do I have to raise funds to participate? No, but every little bit helps in contributing to the cause of improving access to mental health services in our community. Our suggested donation of $10 per snowperson can go to your preferred mental health charity of choice or to the Snowmania general fund for distribution to our participating charitable partners.

Why raise awareness about access to mental health services? In Ottawa, 1 in 5 people will experience mental illness at some point in their life. Youth are one of the most at-risk groups to experience mental illness and there are increasingly long wait times to seek professional help. About 70% of mental health problems first occur during childhood and adolescence.

Where does the money go? Alterna Savings Crackup has partnered with local agencies that focus on mental health to support those in Ottawa who need it. By participating and fundraising for this event, you are providing vital services that are needed greatly in our city.

What's the goal? Our 2015 record attempt resulted in 1,000 snowmen. The following year we built 2,000 snowmen, in 2017 we built 1200 ice-Inukshuks due to icy conditions. In 2018 we aim to melt those records by building 3,000 snowmen!

Where is the event being held? This year Snowmania is taking over Lansdowne Park!  Registration open at 11:00am at the Horticulture Building.

Should I bring anything? YES! In addition to your enthusiasm, bring your friends and families and don't forget snow shovels, buckets and anything else that will help you build as many Snowpeople as possible!

ALSO!  Be sure to bring eyes, noses, and arms for your snowpeople!  Consider dressing your Snowpeople with toques, scarves, mitts and other winter wear.  All items left behind will be donated to the Salvation Army.
